Toothless wonder

Heather was at the dentist yesterday. When she was there 6 months ago, they were concerned about her teeth becoming too congested and growing in squint so they did an x-ray and called her back in 6 months. So yesterday was her return visit. She had another x-ray which confirmed she needs a baby molar taken out as the adult one behind it is growing in squint. The dentist also said that she will definitely need braces as there is too much congestion in her mouth but wants to wait a couple of years. During that time, he’ll probably remove a few more teeth to make way.

She’s very nervous about having her tooth out as her best friend’s dad is a dentist and she’s been telling her all sorts of horror stories!

It seems she has the same problem I had as a child. Unfortunately I didn’t get a brace and now I have horrendous squint front teeth which have always bothered me, more so in later life. I have looked into having cosmetic dentistry to correct it but the bank balance just won’t stretch that far. Maybe in a few years or so.

Anyway the date for her extraction is 10th June so will keep you posted.

  1. Poor heather, but at least it’s being fixed while she’s young and won’t have the same issues as you later on. I’ve never actually noticed you have squint teeth! Must look next time I see you. Which actually we should arrange as it’s been not too far off a year which is daft now you in Aberdeen!

  2. boo hoo hoo…….at least you won’t have to live with an 8 year old drooling through a dread retainer for 9 months.

also….’squint’ is a funny, Scottish way to say crooked, right?

oh, and, further noted……June 10th is the very same day Elder Miss will be fitted with her dread retainer.

I miss you Jilly. You need to come home to Bergen now, ‘kay?

  3. And I thought you were educated JEDA, squint is in the dictionary. You know like when kids get cross eyed, they have a squint. Look it up here!

I miss you too so it’s your turn to get your mountain-running-hard-as-a-rock-uber-toned-up-ass over here PRONTO!

  4. Hi!
My 13 year old daughter had 3 teeth removed last month, it was very quick, and didn’t seem to faze her too much. I think I got more upset than she did! Hope this gives you and your little girl some reassurance :) )
